Twist

Wearing: 'Manta Knit Tank' by Forever New, 'Chance' Twist Skirt from St Frock, 'Miss Kourtney' heels by PeepToe Shoes, 'Double Pearl' bracelet from All Stars Glitter

If I'm honest with myself; I'm not *really* a skirt person. If you have a browse of the looks page of my blog (here), there's really only a handful of outfits in which I'm wearing a skirt. And its not that I don't love them - it's just that when I'm picking something to wear its not often that a skirt will be my first choice.

I guess that's for various reasons. When it comes to casual outfits; shorts are always the first choice. And that's for the boring typical reason that they're just more comfortable and practical than skirts. I'll choose a pair of wide-leg pants over a maxi skirt; and in summer for the most part I'd prefer a shift or t-shirt dress over a short skirt alternative.

But you know how there's always that one piece that makes you look at the whole thing differently?

This skirt from St Frock (available here) is a piece that breaks down all of my reasonings, and I couldn't help but fall in love with it. A pretty print is the easiest way to my heart; and I love the swirling blue, turquoise & purple colours of this one. The double layers; a short inner-skirt and asymmetrical overlay with twist detail; make it both a practical and interesting design, which is sure to turn heads and receive a multitude of compliments. It would also be amazing over a bikini in summer - its the perfect contemporary alternative to a sarong.

And let me also mention this beyond amazing knit tank from Forever New (available here). I purchased this on sale last week for $35 - no I'm not making that price up!! After spending the past two summers looking at knitted tanks from various Australian labels priced at $180+, I was beginning to think an affordable option was out of the question. But then I came across this one at a PR showcase a few weeks ago, and it was like all my fashion prayers had been answered.
It's a quite boxy style with slightly dropped armholes, which means its loose-fitting & completely wearable in the warmer months (where a knitted top isn't necessarily your first choice in attire!) There are also feature knit panels down each side which add an element of interest to the design. All in all I can't fault it - and its a trans-seasonal piece I'm sure I'll be wearing all year round.
