Positano

Wearing: Supre silk-feel button down shirt, Lover lace bralette, Bec & Bridge 'Positano' fitted shorts, PeepToe Custom Collection 'Miss Cherry' heels, Karen Walker Eyewear 'Super Duper' sunglasses

These shorts are easily one of my favourite pieces in my closet. Before Bec & Bridge released them in the stunning 'Positano' print for Spring '12 they debuted in the runway collection for Resort 11/12, in incredible burnt orange and moss green suede colourways (of which I own both!). When the Positano print was released I purchased these ones too as close to instantly as humanly possible, and since then have found them to be such a versatile and fun piece to wear and style.

I am a huge fan of high-waisted bottoms as I believe they are super chic and flattering. A nicely tailored pair of high-waisted shorts like these are so easy to style in a variety of ways, meaning you can create a look to suit virtually any occasion. It's simple to create a semi-sophisticated look such as this by combining with casual pieces you already own - teaming with a stunning pair of heels and a loose-fitting top or shirt creates an elegant, laid-back look, perfectly suited to an event which doesn't require formal or cocktail attire but still calls for a beautifully thought-out outfit.

These heels are the absolute perfect statement piece. I created them as part of PeepToe Shoes' "Custom Collection", which allows you to design your own totally personalised pair of PeepToe heels. The style I went for is called 'Miss Cherry', and I opted for a combination of neon lime and metallic rose gold leathers. When creating them I had these Bec & Bridge shorts in mind - and knew they would be the perfect complement! Together they create an amazingly bright and tropical palette, perfect for summer.

When planning an outfit with a statement shoe it is always important to consider what you will be wearing it with. Typically they work best with 'simple' pieces (which allows the shoe to really be the hero), but they also work so well with an outfit such as this because they accentuate a colour which is already featured. The lime green in the print of the shorts is made more dominant by teaming with the lime green shoes, and this pop of vibrant colour gives the outfit an element of 'fun'.
Shoes really make an outfit, so it is important to always consider "who you want to be today" and pick a pair that will really accentuate that persona! It's amazing what difference the right pair of shoes can make, so always be sure to make them a significant consideration and not just an afterthought. X
